Meet the
reFloresta Movement

REFOREST YOUR IMAGINATION

IMG_2589_edited.jpg

We want to bring together young people from across the world and the Amazon rainforest to build solidarity, expand their imagination, and empower them to lead the fight for the protection of the forest and the rights of its peoples.

We invite young people between 18 and 27 years old to participate in the reFloresta Journeys, which take around 20 people from cities in Brazil and around the world to meet with young people from Amazon communities located in Rio Arapiuns, Pará.

Together, they will experience a dive into the forest and the river, into the lives of the native and riverside peoples, to learn about their stories, challenges, struggles, and perceptions about the critical moment that the Amazon and the world are experiencing.

We understand that the Amazon is one of the most relevant issues today, but the vast majority of Brazilians are unfamiliar with this region, which occupies more than half of the country, is the territory of ancient peoples, is home to the greatest biodiversity on the planet, and occupies a crucial place in the climate crisis we are experiencing.

But we only care for that and those for whom we have affection and a bond.

Therefore, reFloresta works:

  • Conducting immersions to connect with the Amazon, in communities and villages, so that young people can create connections, gain new perspectives, share worlds, reflect, and act collectively.

  • Creating and fostering a network of young activists in Brazil focused on Amazon issues, connecting with other networks and organizations to amplify voices and actions.

  • Strengthening the communities visited through the design and execution of projects that engage young people and residents in action towards a common goal.
